The Bihar Public Service Commission (BPSC) has officially announced the much-awaited BPSC 72nd CCE Recruitment 2026, inviting applications from eligible graduates across India for 1230 government posts under various departments of the Bihar Government. This is one of the most prestigious state-level competitive examinations in Bihar, offering candidates a chance to serve in powerful administrative, revenue, police, finance, and welfare roles. The BPSC 72nd Combined Competitive Examination 2026 is an integrated examination covering posts across two tables — Table-I with 1077 vacancies including top-level positions like Sub-Divisional Officer, Revenue Officer, Rural Development Officer, Block Panchayat Raj Officer, Labour Enforcement Officer, and Municipal Executive Officer, among others; and Table-II with 153 vacancies covering posts like Child Development Project Officer, Financial Administrative Officer, and Sub-Divisional Protection Officer (exclusively for women). The selection process is structured across three major stages. Stage 1 is the Preliminary Examination, which acts as a screening test consisting of a 150-mark General Studies paper in MCQ format, completed in 2 hours. Negative marking of one-third applies for each wrong answer, so aspirants must answer wisely. Stage 2 is the Main Written Examination, which carries 900 marks across four compulsory papers — General Hindi (qualifying), General Studies Paper I, General Studies Paper II, Essay — plus one optional subject. Stage 3 is the Personality Test or Interview worth 120 marks. The final merit list is prepared based on combined marks from the Mains and Interview, totalling 1020 marks. The minimum educational qualification required is a graduation degree from any recognized university for Table-I posts. Some Table-II posts have specific degree requirements — for instance, Financial Administrative Officer requires a degree in Commerce, Economics, Mathematics, or Statistics, while Sub-Divisional Protection Officer requires a degree in Psychology or Law. Candidates applying for this recruitment must be Indian citizens. Reservation benefits are available exclusively to permanent residents (domicile) of Bihar. Non-Bihar candidates can apply only under the Unreserved (UR) category. Age is calculated as on 01-08-2026, and relaxations are available for SC/ST, BC/EBC, women, PwBD, and ex-servicemen candidates. Applications must be submitted online through the official BPSC OTR portal at bpsconline.bihar.gov.in. New applicants need to complete a One-Time Registration (OTR) before filling out the application. The application fee is just ₹100 per examination, making it accessible for all categories of candidates.
