Oil India Limited (OIL), one of India's most respected Maharatna Public Sector Undertakings operating under the Ministry of Petroleum and Natural Gas, has announced a Special Recruitment Drive for Persons with Benchmark Disabilities (PwBD) in 2026. This recruitment initiative has been launched to fill 49 backlog and shortfall vacancies reserved exclusively for PwBD candidates domiciled in the states of Assam and Arunachal Pradesh. This is a significant opportunity for differently-abled candidates from these two northeastern states who are looking to build a stable and rewarding career in the oil and gas sector. The positions being filled are at OIL's Field Headquarters located in Duliajan, Assam, and involve working in various production, exploration, and administrative functions across OIL's installations in both Assam and Arunachal Pradesh. The posts available under this special drive include Junior Technician in trades such as Electronics Mechanic, Fitter, Instrument Mechanic, and Surveyor (all Grade III), Junior Office Assistant (Grade III), and Junior Engineer in Electrical discipline (Grade VII). Candidates applying for Grade III positions can expect a pay scale ranging from ₹26,600 to ₹90,000, while Grade VII positions carry a pay scale of ₹37,500 to ₹1,45,000 – both with applicable allowances and increments as per company rules. One of the most attractive aspects of this recruitment is that all PwBD candidates are completely exempt from paying any application fee. This lowers the barrier for deserving candidates to participate in the selection process. Furthermore, travel expenses for appearing in the Computer Based Test (CBT) will be reimbursed in the form of second-class rail or bus fare, ensuring that financial constraints do not prevent eligible candidates from appearing for the exam. The selection process is straightforward and transparent. There is only a single-stage Computer Based Test (CBT) followed by document verification – no interviews are conducted. The CBT consists of 100 marks divided across three sections: General English and General Knowledge (20 marks), Reasoning and Numerical Ability (20 marks), and Domain or Technical Knowledge (60 marks). The qualifying threshold is 40 marks out of 100, and there is no negative marking, making it a fair and accessible exam for all eligible applicants. PwBD candidates also receive an additional 40 minutes of compensatory time during the exam, bringing the total duration to 2 hours and 40 minutes. Eligibility for these posts is straightforward. Junior Technician roles require a Class 10 pass combined with a relevant ITI Trade Certificate recognized by NCVT or SCVT. The Junior Office Assistant role is open to candidates who have cleared their Class 12 (10+2) and hold at least a six-month Diploma or Certificate in Computer Applications. The Junior Engineer (Electrical) post requires a Class 10 pass along with a three-year Diploma in Electrical Engineering and a valid Electrical Supervisor Competency Certificate covering Parts 1, 2, 3, and 4. Age limits are calculated as on the crucial date of 08 June 2026. General category PwBD candidates must be 40 years or below, while SC/ST candidates can be up to 45 years and OBC (Non-Creamy Layer) candidates up to 43 years. Additional relaxations are available for ex-servicemen, OIL employees, apprentices, and work-charged labourers as per applicable rules. The entire application process is conducted online through OIL's official website. Candidates need to upload scanned copies of their photograph, signature, educational certificates, disability certificate, caste certificate (if applicable), and employment exchange registration card from Assam or Arunachal Pradesh. It is mandatory to carry original documents and self-attested photocopies at the time of document verification. If you are a PwBD candidate from Assam or Arunachal Pradesh with the required qualifications, this is one of the best Central Government job opportunities of 2026 in the engineering and PSU sector. Applications open on 08 May 2026 and close on 08 June 2026, so candidates are advised to complete the process well before the deadline to avoid last-minute technical issues.
